As these trying times continue, there is an often-overlooked segment of the logistics industry. It is fast becoming very vital to both individuals and to businesses. Looking out my home office window, I see several parcel deliveries trucks an hour dropping with packages at my neighbor’s homes. At one time, I saw a Fed Ex, UPS, and DHL truck all on my block. While stores may be closed, people are ordering and receiving goods from online sources. These products range from dry goods to food and medicine. Even more vital, are the deliveries to hospitals and doctors’ offices. The companies that manufacture these products and many others find that parcel is a very necessary part of their distribution chain, especially now.

Parcel is the forgotten stepchild of the logistics world. Ocean, air, and surface transportation get all the attention, but parcel companies like Fed Ex, UPS, and DHL are among the largest and most profitable logistic companies in the world.
