JUSDA Surface Transportation

Shea Wallace

As the world entered into the global pandemic, JUSDA Surface Transportation was able and ready to adapt to a new supply chain. Our team spent countless hours on the phone with our customers to better understand their needs and help them plan accordingly. One of our larger verticals that we deal in is Food and Beverage. As the panic was setting in, and grocery stores were getting depleted of goods; Our customers needed a carrier partner to help provide additional capacity to support the quickly growing demand. We also worked with them in planning how we can ensure the drivers safety when loading and unloading at their facilities. We were able to offer different modes of transit that they didn’t normally operate to make sure products were getting to their destination quickly and safely.

Just as we value our customer partnership, we equally value our carrier partners as well. Working with the operation manager and dispatchers to better understand where the drivers concerns were and what we could do to help alleviate as much as possible. We also spent time understanding their networks and strengths to best align with what the customers were needing, all while keeping safety as our top concern. As the fear continued to grow, and drivers were turning off their trucks, we relied on our vast carrier network to fill some gaps in capacity that were forming. New partnerships were forged and existing partnerships only got stronger.

Our JUSDA team operates in multiple offices spread across the United States. Out of concern for our employees safety, we quickly moved to everyone working from home. We are a very collaborative bunch, so not having the face time every day to work through problems was concerning to say the least. But just as we did with our customers and carriers, we adapted. Daily video conferences became a new normal, as it did with a lot of other companies. Seeing our employees in their home element was entertaining to say the least. We made sure we all kept our moral up while focusing on the task at hand.

In conclusion, seeing everyone come together with compassion and care was truly amazing to witness. Everyone continues bringing solutions to the table to get us through this. As the world begins to open back up, JUSDA Surface Transportation will continue to evolve with our partners and help lay the landscape to a new supply chain.

Thank you and stay safe!
