Team Spotlight: IT Department
On JUSDA’s IT team, our mission is to use software and data to create value in our customers’ supply chains. Our team consists of project managers, engineers, data scientists, and support staff. A key differentiator for us is speed of execution. We operate in one-week sprints and we have consistently delivered business value every week since the teams’ inception. We are highly connected to clients and our team members have developed deep understanding of the supply chain domain. Although our primary work is technical, many members of our team have experience working in logistics roles. This makes it easier for us to understand a client’s needs and engineer a technical solution that effectively solves their problem. Our cross-functional team design reduces the problem soften faced by a siloed IT organization. We have supply chain experts, engineers, and data scientists collaborating on projects each sprint. This results in a fast delivery cycle.
A core part of JUSDA’s strategy is to develop technology products that can add value in the supply chain domain. Our IT team operates as an innovation center, closely working with US clients to see what problems they are facing. We then build prototypes and minimum viable products to address those needs. As incubator products are developed, we present them to clients to get feedback. For high potential products we either develop them and go to market in the US, or we integrate them into JUSDA’s global software platforms like Juslink. We spend a lot of time working with data. We perform data engineering tasks like data ingestion, cleansing, and transformation. We evaluate third-party APIs and develop processes to integrate with external platforms. These capabilities allow us to create integrated workflows throughout a client’s supply chain.
We believe that one of the most effective approaches to optimizing a supply chain is to implement better data integration. This helps streamline business processes, improve visibility, and ultimately match supply and demand more effectively. In the last two years our team has created many new solutions including supply chain visibility applications, a rules-based risk alerting system, a turnkey direct-to-consumer eCommerce solution, a parcel visibility service, a web-based business intelligence tool, a freight audit service, and a wide variety of reporting and analytics tools that help clients and internal users to optimize supply chains.
We are currently rolling out the new Juslink platform to US customers which includes a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) module which was developed by our team. We are also building several innovative products related to customs compliance. These applications will streamline the challenges involved in managing customs compliance in a complex supply chain. We are currently running several pilot implementations and plan on offering these applications on a software-as-a-service model by the end of this year. As global trade continues its progression toward digitalization, the ability to execute well on technology projects will be a key success factor. JUSDA will continue to invest heavily both in innovation and execution so that we can be your partner on your digital transformation.
